1998 Restoration by voluntary workers – numerous Public appearance in blessing of the fleet and old boat regatta.

1999 Took part in Anzac Day ceremony , Visit of Replica “ Norfolk ” School children inspected XLCR
Deck timbers and support beams repaired and replaced by volunteer shipwright Terry Lyons, and helpers resealed deck and non skid finish applied by John Macarthur. Engineer Keith Chambers has  maintained the engine and designed and built new header tank. XLCR Trust received grant from the Royal Australian Historical society for publication of book on XLCR‘s  history.

2000 XLCR slipped at Port Macquarie Slipway early January, for antifouling, antifouling paint supplied courtesy of International Epiglass and slipping costs donated by Port Macquarie Slipway.

2001 Support vessel for visit of replica Dutch vessel Duyfken during February and HM Bark Endeavour replica at Easter. 
Wollongbar 11 rescue featured on ABC TV series Australians at war, material for TV segment prepared by Bruce Jordan and information now on Australians at war website, under  Port Macquarie.  

 2002 Gardner diesel engine removed for maintenance and urgent restoration of the engine room. Mid Coast cranes and Hastings Blue Bins completed the removal.

JULY XLCR lifted from the water to Hibbard Slipway site courtesy Mid Coast Cranes – Andrew Turner and work team, with XLCR support teams help – preparing vessel for 60th Anniversary of Wollongbar sinking, to be held 29th April 2003.
